Bowser is a squirrel monkey estimated to be in his late teens. He arrived at Jungle Friends in March 2005 after he was retired from research along with his monkey companions Kilroy, Skeeter and Herbie. They joined Buddy Boy, Moses, Gilbert and Howard who also are ex-lab squirrel monkeys that had been retired to Jungle Friends a few months before.
After living alone in small cages in the laboratory, Bowser and his friends immediately took to their larger habitats, particularly those outdoors. It was simply a joy to see Bowser and his friends finally feel the wind and the sun and to climb trees and plants instead of stainless steel and plastic. Bowser is a feisty male and loves to quarrel with his neighbors in adjoining habitats. He is very playful and can be seen scurrying about from his indoor to outdoor habitats, always playful and inquisitive.
