Floyd is a tufted capuchin, estimated to have been born in the late 1980's and arriving at Jungle Friends on April 8th, 2005. Captured in the rainforest as a youngster, Floyd was exported to the US and sold into research where he lived for nearly two decades. Fortunately, after the research program ended, Floyd and eight other tufted capuchins were retired to Jungle Friends.
Floyd and his monkey friends were housed separately in the laboratory, living indoors in a sterile environment. Here at Jungle Friends, they all enjoy large, naturalistic outdoor habitats. Floyd enjoys exploring his surroundings and interacting with his monkey neighbors. Floyd was socialized with another monkey retired from the lab named Don Knotts. The two seem to really enjoy each other's company and spend lots of time together, grooming, playing, or just foraging quietly on the ground for tasty tidbits. Floyd seems to have adjusted well to life at Jungle Friends and is a very mellow mannered monkey.
