Herbie

Herbie Herbie is a squirrel monkey estimated to be in his late teens. He arrived at Jungle Friends in March 2005 after he was retired from research. His monkey companions Bowser, Skeeter and Kilroy accompanied him. They joined Buddy, Moses, Gilbert and Howard who also are ex-lab squirrel monkeys that had been retired to Jungle Friends a few months before.

After living alone in small cages, Herbie and his friends immediately took to their larger habitats, particularly the ones outdoors. It was simply a joy to see Herbie finally feel the wind and sun, and to climb trees and plants instead of stainless steel and plastic. Herbie is a bit reserved. Unlike the quarrelsome Bowser or the expressive Kilroy, Herbie is content to quietly greet his friends with a penis display, a common male squirrel monkey gesture. Otherwise, he busies himself exploring his surroundings and playing with his friend Kilroy.

Check out Herbie's video clips!
