ROSIE

Dear Friends of Jungle Friends,
It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you that we lost Rosie
to Cancer in her uterus last night. You would not have known a
thing was wrong with Rosie, had you see her just three days ago.
She only started showing signs of not feeling well a couple of
days before she passed and for that we are very grateful. She
did not suffer long and only spent one day at the vet school where
she was diagnosed. After her diagnosis, she came home to die among
her friends and family.
Yesterday morning, before we took Rosie to the vet school, she
was being groomed by her family; Scooter, Billy, Pickles and Rita
and when she came back home, Scooter never left her side. Scooter
is the alpha male in the group and Rosie was the alpha female.
Scooter groomed Rosie and consoled her long after the others had
said their good-byes. We think that Scooter will miss her the
most, as they were constant companions and playmates. We will
never forget how they played in the runways everyday. Little Rita
has some big shoes to fill, as she will most likely move up to
alpha female status in the group.
We will all miss Rosie, she was a long-time resident of Jungle
Friends, she was rescued from being sent to an exotic animal auction
when the breeder was getting out of the business. Rosie spent
many years having baby after baby stolen from her in a breeding
facility and we are happy that Rosie spent the last 9 years at
Jungle Friends doing monkey things and making monkey friends.
All of Rosie's sponsorship dollars will go into the Gizmo
Memorial Medical Fund.
We all feel a great void here at Jungle Friends without our Rosie,
but we know that she will live on at Jungle Friends in spirit,
she was a wonderful monkey. Rosie was a good role model to the
younger monkeys and was always ready for a game of rough and tumble
play with Scooter. Rosie was a great soul and we will all miss
her very much. Lots of monkey love, Kari and the monks
Rosie is a rather large female who lives with Scooter, Billy
and Pickles. Rosie's past is unknown. She came to Jungle Friends
in the summer of 1995 with Billy from a breeder going out of business
and were thankfully intercepted from going to an exotic animal
auction. Rosie spends much of her time with either Scooter or
Billy-whomever seems to be the more promising "boyfriend" at the
moment. She is usually a troublemaker, and likes to start trouble
between Billy and Scooter. Rosie spends much of her time being
groomed by either Scooter or Billy and revels in the attentions!
She is very possessive of her men as well as her cherished food.
Rosie seems to have more liberty, or maybe more courage, with
Billy and Scooter than Pickles does. She will steal treats out
of their hands and holds onto her toys tight when one tries to
steal them. She is definitely a 90s girl! She is very sweet and
screams right along with Scooter and Billy upon the arrival of
one of her favorite human primates.
